Itinerary
Abu Simbel is an ancient Egyptian temple complex located near Lake Nasser, built by Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BC. It consists of two temples:
Temple of Ramses II – Featuring four giant statues of Ramses II.
Temple of Nefertari – Dedicated to his queen, Nefertari.
The temples were relocated in the 1960s to avoid flooding from the Aswan High Dam. A unique sun alignment occurs twice a year, when sunlight illuminates the statues inside the main temple. Abu Simbel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be reached by road or air from Aswan. The best time to visit is between October and April.

The Smaller Temple of Nefertari at Abu Simbel was built by Ramses II for his wife, Nefertari. It features six statues at the entrance (four of Ramses II and two of Nefertari) . The temple celebrates Nefertari’s beauty and role as the queen.
